    FAQs
    General Questions
    • Where did the name Copper John come from?
    • There is a prison about 150 yards away from our factory. On top of the roof, stands a statue of a prison guard. Local legend has it that the statue was carved by inmates. In any event, law enforcement officials used to be called “Coppers” because their badges were made of copper. Since John is a fairly common name, the locals began referring to the statue as “Copper John”. We can see the statue from both the front and back doors of our factory.
    • Does Copper John sell directly to the public?
    • As a rule, no. Occasionally if a customer makes a compelling story, like he is 200 miles from the nearest archery shop, we will sell direct. Generally speaking though, we do not sell direct to the public.
    • When was Copper John founded?
    • On October 6, 1999
    • What is Copper John Corp’s relation to Stanislawski Archery Products?
    • Copper John Corp purchased Stanislawski Archery Products from Mel Stanislawski in 2002 and operates it as a stand alone company. It has a unique and separate brand image. Some overhead items are shared to keep costs down, for example, we maintain one single factory and one sales staff.
    • Where can we find information on your release aids?
    • We used to make the Eagle line of release aids, but we dropped the line some time ago. We continue to make and market release aids under our Stanislawski Archery Products brand and you can find information on those products at www.ishootastan.com.
Original Dead Nuts Archery Sight (2000 - 2006)
    • Do you still sell pins for the original Dead Nuts?
    • Unfortunately our vendor has stopped making those pins so we are unable to supply them moving forward. If you need some, you might want to try ebay or www.archerytalk.com.
    • What is SoloPlane Technology?
    • SoloPlane Technology is the use of multiple pin tracks to eliminate the see saw pattern in the pin tips when a bow is at full draw. It is also how we achieve zero pin gap. By using multiple tracks, we ensure that the pin base itself does not interfere with the pin base of other pins; this allows us to get zero pin gap. By bending the pins on the outer tracks inward such that the tips all line up on the same line and plane, we are able to eliminate the see saw pattern in the pin tips when at full draw.
    • What is the length of the original Dead Nuts Pro II and III extensions?
    • The Dead Nuts Pro II extension is six inches long, the Dead Nuts Pro III is 6 and 7/8 inches long.
    • What is the length of the mounting extension of the original Dead Nuts Hunter?
    • 4.24 inches
    • What is the difference between the original Dead Nuts Hunter, and the Dead Nuts Pro?
    • The difference between the pro and the standard is two fold: 1) the pins on the Pro are .029, but the pins on the Pro II and III are .019;On the standard they are .029. The other difference is that on the Standard, the level setting feature and the vertical gang adjustment are integrated, consequently, when you adjust one, you must readjust the other. On the pro, they are independent of one another and do no require such attention. Basically we suggest the standard for people who only hunt, and the pro for people who hunt and do 3D or who do 3D exclusively. We also have the Dead Nuts Pro II, which is the same as the Dead Nuts Pro except that it has a extension and a dovetail mount. It allows you to adjust the distance between your peep and the pins with more ease than the regular Pro and it has a wider range of settings (you can make the pins closer and further than the Pro allows). Further, we offer the Dead Nuts Pro III which is the same as the Pro II except the extension is longer and it offers 3rd axis adjustment.
    • How much does the original Dead Nuts Hunter weigh?
    • .309 lbs or about five and a half ounces
    • What size peep do you recommend for use with the original Dead Nuts line of pin sights?
    • We recommend using at least 3/16″ peep. A usefull peep is the Super Peep by Specialty Archery Products. This peep allows you the ability to change the peep hole size without much difficulty. Also, by removing the peep insert altogether, you get a very large peep sight. That is what the owners of Copper John use, a Super Peep with no insert. The peep size required will vary depending on the distance the sight is from the riser.
    Dead Nuts 2 Archery Sight
    • What is the diameter of the pin guard on the Dead Nuts 2?
    • The inner diameter of the Dead Nuts 2 pin guard is 1.72 inches. It is slightly smaller than the Original Dead Nuts pin guard and slightly larger than our hunter plus.
    ANTS Archery Sight
    • How much does the ANTS Target sight weigh?
    • At about 8 ounces, it is the lightest target sight on the market.
    • Why is the ANTS target Sight frame curved?
    • It ensures that the lens in the scope is always square to your eye no matter what distance you are shooting. This in turn will ensure that the fiber optic pin in the lens is always pointing at your eye. The benefit of this system is two fold. First, if the lense is square to your eye, you will not be looking through it at an angle. Looking through it at an angle will distort the image you are looking at and can cause you to miss. Second, you will not see a the “double dot” prevelant in straight frame sights because the fiber is pointing directly at your eye no matter what distance you are shooting.
    • What is the length of travel on the ANTS target sight?
    • The Field & 3D sight is 3.25 inches, the FITA sight is 4.5 inches
    AfterBurner Archery Sight Light
    • What are the batteries used in the AfterBurner light?
    • LR41, we don’t stock them but they are typically stocked at Radio Shack, Walmart, and most drug stores.
